Ways to enjoy the garden

Members and volunteers

Whether you are keen to turn compost, plant annual flowers, or sweep leaves, we welcome your help in keeping our garden looking its best. Meet other garden members, pitch in, and play your part in our all-volunteer community garden.

Tulip Festival

Each year we plant over 13,000 tulip bulbs, and our celebrated annual tulip festival attracts visitors from throughout the city and beyond who come to admire our spring flowers and blossoming trees, and to learn more about the garden from our volunteer experts.

Concerts

On selected Sundays in May and June we present a popular program of evening concerts; from Italian folk music to modern jazz, there is something for everyone. Relax and enjoy the music in the warmth of the evening as the night-scented garden works a special kind of magic.

Movie night

Bring a rug and a picnic and settle down with friends and family to watch a film in the open air. Our popular movie night offers the opportunity to forget the chaos of city life for a couple of hours and to lose yourself in the lush tranquility of late-summer plants.

BEnefit Garden Party

We host our annual benefit dinner and party in June, in the garden, featuring food from neighborhood restaurants, live music, a raffle and live auction. This is our largest source of revenue each year, with ticket proceeds benefiting all our programs.

Celebrations

Several times a year the garden community comes together with free events such as the July 4th barbeque and potluck, and the arts and crafts festival. In June we hold our annual benefit, a ticketed event that helps us to raise funds towards keeping the garden a place that you will want to return to time and again.

Family Shakespeare Festival

As well as drawing theater lovers to the garden, our family Shakespeare festival attracts many casual passers by. You won’t find a better environment in which to let the Bard’s poetry weave its spell.
